On Saturday, March 11th, I felt much better--about 80% of normal. This was mostly a travel day, over the mountains (not very high at this point) to Chile.
We got out around 7:30, ahead of other buses, and were able to get through Chilean customs and immigration without trouble.
The lunch stop was at, of all places, an automobile museum, specializing in Studebakers! There were several from the late 40s and early 50s, in the range of the one in which one of my brothers was born in 1955, on the way to the hospital.
Late in the afternoon, we arrived in Puerto Varas, Chile, a resort town on a large lake. In good weather, you would be able to see the unmistakeably volcanic snow-capped cone of Osorno Volcano, across the lake. We never saw it, due to haze and mist.
Our hotel, the Radisson, was right on the lake, though our room looked out on the Casino instead. Mary Joy wasn't feeling well, so she skipped dinner, while I went out with a group to Las Buenas Brasas, where I was able to eat Mechy's recommended avocado stuffed with king crab.
