On Thursday afternoon, September 17, we flew out of Athens to Istanbul. We were picked up at the airport by a driver for Safe Airport Transfer, who drove us to our hotel, the Galata Istanbul M Gallery on the 19th-century banking street in Galata, across the Golden Horn from the old town. We were there two days ahead of our Overseas Adventure Travel tour, because OAT had cancelled our original tour, so we joined one two days later. It made more sense to arrive two days early and see some more of Istanbul than to try to change our flights, etc. We were able to change our flights home for a minimal ($81) cost, which OAT reimbursed us for.
We had dinner in the hotel bar, with a view overlooking the Golden Horn and the Old Town, along with two of our fellow OAT travelers.
