Machu Picchu Again

On Wednesday, June 19th, early in the morning, we went up again to Machu Picchu.  This time, Mary Joy stayed behind, with a GI ailment.  The rain was even worse than the day before, but we slogged through it, going up a little higher, to the point of the most famous view of the ruins, with Huayna Picchu mountain behind.

We were ready to go back down by 9:30.  Mary Joy joined us for a good lunch (with musical accomaniment) at a restaurant near the Mercado de Abastos (food market), which, of course, Mary Joy and I visited after lunch.

We then wandered around the town and Mary Joy had hot chocolate at the Boulangerie de Paris.

We joined Pepe and some other members of the group for dinner at a restaurant down the street from our hotel.  Instead of the Peruvian national cocktail, the pisco sour (which is, admittedly, better in Peru than in Chile), I had a caipirinha, the Brazilian national cocktail, which I much prefer (margaritas are also better).
