On Tuesday, September 20th, we had croissants and coffee (I also had orange juice) at our hotel, then took the train to Interlaken West, via Bern.
Before we arrived in Switzerland, it wasn't clear how much we would use the transportation system. If we would spend more than 240 francs apiece on trains, post-buses, ferries and cable cars, etc., it would make sense to buy half-fare cards, at 120 francs apiece, as we have sometimes done in the past. As it turned out, we exceeded that amount, but that wasn't apparent until well into our sojourn in Switzerland.
After lunch with Mary Joy's cousin Albert, we decided to take the cog railway up to the Harder Kulm, which overlooks Unterseen and Interlaken from the north.
At the top, we took a circle trail up and around and back down to the restaurant. We didn't have our sticks with us, and it was tougher than expected--up and up, then down and down.
Back down, we had pizza at Arcobaleno in Unterseen, as we have before (pizza being the height of Swiss cuisine).
