Around Santa Fe

On Tuesday, August 7, our twentieth wedding anniversary, we started with a nice breakfast at the Madeleine's sister property, Hacienda Nicholas.  At 10:15 we joined a walking tour of the downtown area, starting at the Museum of New Mexico History--very informative.  We then visited what claims to be the oldest church in the United States, San Miguel.  The church bell now displayed in the nave is claimed to have been made in 1356, in honor of a victory over the Moors in Spain.

We had a very good lunch (I had tamales, while Mary Joy had chicken adovado) at Tia Sophia's.

After a nap, we walked to Restaurant Martín, whose chef we had seen an TV and who had been a finalist for this year's James Beard Award.  Very good, but not great--Mary Joy eventually rated it our third- or fourth-best meal on the trip.
