Friday, June 9th ended up being almost entirely devoted to travel. We caught the 8:18 train to Lecco, then the train to Milano Centrale, then the Malpensa Express. Lunch was the worst meal of the trip—airport cafe sandwiches. The EasyJet flight was uncomfortable (cramped knees). When we arrived at Palermo Airport, we took the shuttle bus into the city, just missing the local train to Cefalù, though we almost ended up accidentally on the Inter-City to Rome, which stopped in Cefalù, but was more expensive. After waiting an hour in the station, we finally got onto the right train, and nearly an hour after that we were in the beach resort town of Cefalù. We settled into our very nice B&B, named Lirma, near the beach, then went up to the old town for a very good dinner (pasta with tuna, dried tomatoes, etc.) at Tivitti, followed by great gelato at the nearby Antica Porta Terra.
